A friend in Charlotte is looking for these paintings. They were mistakenly given away late on Saturday night / early Sunday at Cook Out on S Tryon (near Woodlawn). They're offering >$1k if recovered.

Anyone remember when this happened? Officer Wende Kerl demanded that Danquirs Franklin "drop the gun" and repeatedly yelled "drop the gun" at him. The only problem? It was in his hoodie pocket and his hands were already in the air. After reaching for the weapon to put it on the ground, Wende Kerl shit him because "he grabbed the gun". His dying words were "but you told me to". His family kids deserve every penny of this settlement.

This is a great group run and a great greenway. If you’re down to suffer in the July heat, I highly recommend it. Otherwise, the group meets once a month.

The crack is a doozy and Brad Panovich has posted photos on Twitter that show is been getting worse over the span of a few weeks. Also, a vid link snarfed from Reddit shows it really well: https://v.redd.it/981d55yaw99b1

CHARLOTTE — Mecklenburg County has rescinded a permit for the National Whitewater Center to hold fireworks shows for Independence Day, Channel 9 confirmed on Friday. The National Whitewater Center had planned on a big fireworks display Monday and Tuesday to celebrate the Fourth of July, but Tuesday’s events will have to go without the rockets’ red glare. This news comes after Charlotte’s police chief wrote a letter to Mecklenburg County Manager Dena Diorio and Charlotte City Manager Marcus Jones with an outline of lingering safety concerns after he learned that a permit had been approved for the Whitewater Center to host a fireworks show.

Anyone else know that up until 2021 Charlotte had a second airport within city limits? Recently demolished to make way for 400 cookie cutter houses by LGI homes.

Not exactly hiking trails, but it's nice to see the tourism site put together some ideas for walks through the city. I would probably add the Little Sugar Creek Greenway from Park Road Shopping Center up to Midtown. Any other good walks to be had in town?
