I once again had mixed feelings about one of the "Amazing Alpha Tau" fraternity romances. [\#WhatchaReading](https://romancelandia.club/tags/WhatchaReading) ? I read Cate C. Wells' latest, After the Shut Up Ring, which was inspired by viral videos of men making horrific, insulting wedding vows. (I was happier when I didn't know this was a thing.) Not as dramatically enthralling as she often is, but it's cool that she tackled a very taboo subject in romance (STDs,) and the small town, working class setting really came to life. [\#WhatchaReading](https://romancelandia.club/tags/WhatchaReading) ? I gave up on the audio of Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell, despite an excellent narrator with a delightful Australian accent. How can a "Shop Around the Corner" trope about online friends falling in love through musical theater be so desperately dull? Also all the bullying and loneliness was really painful to listen to. Just uploaded all my files to Amazon! If you like intrigue, libraries, philosophy, fighting demons or plant zombies, and overall a lot of plot to go with what might actually be kind of a gooey marshmallow center of a gay romance set against the backdrop of the late 1960s, you would like these. [\#WhatchaReading](https://romancelandia.club/tags/WhatchaReading) ? I read Untamed by E.M. Moore because Cate C. Wells recommended it and... well, it's an absorbing and pretty hot story if you like the rejected mate trope, but the world building is absent and/or ridiculous, and the author relied too much on a thesaurus, I think. Might read the second book, might not. Perhaps just to see if maybe we ever find out if shifters are known to the outside world or hidden. [\#WhatchaReading](https://romancelandia.club/tags/WhatchaReading) ? I reviewed A Little Magic, the Hanukkah miracle book I mentioned yesterday. Nor without its issues, at least for me personally, but a lot to enjoy as well. I [#read](https://romancelandia.club/tags/read) as [#audiobook](https://romancelandia.club/tags/audiobook) The Witness by Nora Roberts. Despite the hundreds of [#books](https://romancelandia.club/tags/books) she’s written, I’m a 48yo Roberts virgin; she’s always been the [#romance](https://romancelandia.club/tags/romance) of my mother & MIL’s generation. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love good plots that don’t rely on dramatic breakups & makeups. While very white & not written specifically with this diagnosis of the FMC, she very much seemed to me as high-functioning autistic. I [#read](https://romancelandia.club/tags/read) When She’s Shy by Ruby Dixon (Sept 2023). This short [#book](https://romancelandia.club/tags/book) from the Risdaverse is a 52 pg F/F delight. Please don’t let that scare you off if you are a straight cis person. This is the first time I know of that Dixon has openly written lgbt main characters, one of which clearly has an anxiety disorder. Read it! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈 [#romance](https://romancelandia.club/tags/romance) [#books](https://romancelandia.club/tags/books) [#romancebooks](https://romancelandia.club/tags/romancebooks) [#romancelandia](https://romancelandia.club/tags/romancelandia) [#reading](https://romancelandia.club/tags/reading) [@romancebooks](https://lemm.ee/c/romancebooks) [@romancelandia](https://a.gup.pe/u/romancelandia) [https://amzn.to/47pNekZ](https://amzn.to/47pNekZ)

[\#WhatchaReading](https://romancelandia.club/tags/WhatchaReading) ? I listened to With Love, From Cold World and just like with Love in the Time of Serial Killers, I almost DNF'd because I found the FMC so obnoxious, but kept on and loved it by the end. Maybe her theme is even really obnoxious women deserve love? 😁 Score for me! Liked how queer the book is for an m/f pairing, especially since it's set in Florida. (MMC is bisexual.) More red state queer books please! (Sensitive readers should note the CWs.) [@romancebooks](https://lemm.ee/c/romancebooks) [@romancelandia](https://a.gup.pe/u/romancelandia)

I [#read](https://romancelandia.club/tags/read) One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. I don’t know what to say about this [#book](https://romancelandia.club/tags/book). It’s [#romance](https://romancelandia.club/tags/romance). It’s F/F & trans-friendly. It’s a weird cross between mystery & ghostly & time travel & a NY subway. I absolutely had to know how it ended because the plot is definitely unexpected. I struggled a little with the style/voice, but a great diversion during a hard week. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️[#reading](https://romancelandia.club/tags/reading) [#books](https://romancelandia.club/tags/books) [@romancebooks](https://lemm.ee/c/romancebooks) [@romancelandia](https://a.gup.pe/u/romancelandia) [https://amzn.to/46RlXXT](https://amzn.to/46RlXXT)

[\#WhatchaReading](https://romancelandia.club/tags/WhatchaReading) ? I finished A Nobleman's Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel. Too much page time to horrible speeches from horrible people, but the ending is extremely satisfying and has one of the best declarations of love ever. [\#WhatchaReading](https://romancelandia.club/tags/WhatchaReading) ? I was somewhat bogged down in Light Up the Lamp by Kit Irving but enjoyed it by the end. The main character is as thick as a brick, but he figures it all out eventually. 😁 Still listening to Mortal Follies but though the narration is very engaging I'm somehow not really engaged. Dunno if I'm up for another 5 hours of it.
