Gotta be honest: I’m all for communities. Hate magazines.
In the admin config, there is a section called 'Listing Type' with options for Local and All. What does this option do? I understand what 'Type' does in a users settings. It's the default for what is shown on the home page. How is this different if it is at all?

Read an article about building a Redbox either on the 2600 Usenet group or some other hack/phreak BBS probably around 1993. Went to radio shack the next day to buy the tone dialer and crystal. thank you! that's exactly what I was looking for. Was originally testing and added lemmy.world as an allowed instance and was wondering why federation wasn't working. TYSM!
I recently spun up my own lemmy instance and was wondering if I had to manually add other lemmy instances to the 'Allowed Instances' admin field, or if they are added automatically when someone searches for a lemmy instance?

One of my favorite hacks! I have a 30’ collapsible and I put a fishing rod end eyelet on the end of the pole. I then attach a double sided carabiner to it and feed the end fed through it.
SOTA was the biggest reason I got into amateur radio. Love mixing radio/tech with getting out in the fresh air.

Trying to login with Firefox on my iPhone just sets the submit button spinning but won’t sign me in. I can login with safari on my iPhone though.

oh hell yes, this is good data! also introduced me to a few other federverse apps. thanks! can't wait to see what comes out of the great reddit migration in the coming weeks.
Are there any websites that show any awesome graphs or charts for data that lemmy generates? Usage, user signups, post creation, comments, etc...? I have to imagine the fediverse generates some pretty amazing data.

I've been having this same issue and it just seems to be hit or miss. TBH I think it may be because kbin and even some lemmy servers are getting absolutely hammered right now. Sometimes I can search for a kbin "magazine" on lemmy and it finds it, but most times not.
As I'm writing this, i'm trying to test and kbin is actually down at the moment. I think the reddit wave is just affecting things.
