Itchy Boots, the mother of all overlanders, kicks off her new series going around the world on a motorcycle. I hope, she'll make it without braking her bones this time round.
Huge transformation, well done. I am not sure, though, whether I like these thick shiny varnish covers, yet they surely help to preserve the piece of art.
That's surely one of the craziest things I have seen. Kudos to the mechanic who takes it so calmly.

I found a something similar issue here https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/2666
And that sees to be it. I could set the lemmy.world cookie to "lax" using a cookie manager extension. Now it seems to work, both with F5 and when I leave Firefox.

Thanks for the idea. All my browsers are Deb packages, no Snap/Flatpack/AppImage. I am still on Ubuntu for now, but I try to stay away from Snaps wherever I can due to slightly less-than-stellar experiences.

Ha! Thank you! Alexandrite works normally. Not my taste, though. 😀
Is there anything I can do now, or will I have to work with Alexandrite until the normal ui fixes itself somehow?

Thanks bunches for putting up with me. 👍
I have tried all privacy settings, no change. Where can I change the ui, please; it's not in my account settings?
And Lemmy is the only site that does this. I do not have this issue with any other site, including other Fediverse sites like Mastodon or Pixelfed.

Thanks a lot!
It happens on Firefox (130), Vivaldi and a pretty virgin Chromium. Firefox is a little worse, in that if I press F5 to just reload a page, I am logged out again, no matter the security setting. This does not happen on the other browsers. I don't really know what to look for in the console; it shows errors in fonts, things like 'line-height' and such, nothing that would give me a hint. However, I am not a web-developer and could easily overlook something.
Since a few weeks ago, Lemmy.world will always log me out when I leave it, and I cannot find a "stay logged-in" tick-box anywhere in the settings. Is this a bug or a feature or perhaps a "me-problem"? Happens with Firefox and Vivaldi on Linux, if that matters. Emptying cache/cookies did not help. Mobile app is fine. Thanks for any hint! ETA, thanks to [@Rooki@lemmy.world](https://lemmy.world/u/Rooki), there is a temporary workaround to this: > I could set the lemmy.world cookie to “lax” using a cookie manager extension. Now it seems to work, both with F5 and when I leave Firefox.

I use external hard drives. Two of them, and they get rsynced every time something changes, so there's a copy if one drive should fail. Once a month, I encrypt the whole shebang with gpg and send it off into an AWS bucket.

Terminator for me. It has tiles and tabs and does everything I need.

I would have kept the engine that's original to the Celica.
She's getting better at every restoration she is doing. Even though, if it was me, I'd want to keep the engine original.
I like this old tech. So easy to fix, and, as long as you can find or make parts for it, they can live for a long time. I don't think that any of my multimeters will live that long.
Like a miracle. Yet that screwdriver looks really unwieldy to me, not sure if I'd be able to do anything with that. 😀

Shamed be he who thinks naughty of it. 🤣
Interesting concept. I wonder, how the tree would react to the constant strain?

Not sure, whether it is relevant for this thread, but my phone (POCO F3) does not get any notifications if Google Play Services has no access to the internet. I scratched my head for a while to find out, why I never got them on mobile data. Not sure, what it does, if you disable the store.

You can edit titles on Lemmy
I am aware of that. If the devs keep cracking at it, ten years from now Lemmy may have almost as much functionality as PHPBB, way surpassing Reddit. 😜
OTOH, this meta-discussion also has a certain value. So, I'll leave the title as it is for now and will keep the issue in mind for any further posts.

That's what I would have thought as well.

Yes, you are right!
I used the original title of the video on YouTube, even though it is not very descriptive. I would like to "editorialise" titles as little as possible. But here it would have made sense to change it. So, thank you!

If you can harness the wind, like they seem to have enough of in Ireland, I guess it could be cost-effective. A windmill may be overkill, but some kind of "vertical propeller" (how are they called?) may be enough.
OTOH, a windmill would be a great toy to play with, so I can understand his wish 😀

Haha, I am a native German speaker, and I had a hard time following them without looking at the subtitles. But then, grammar is a fickle bitch in all languages.

Ah, F-Droid did it. Thank you so much!
Happy days!

Very true, his videos got more and more commercial over the years, unfortunately. But there are still some gems in his videos now and then, like this bevel. However, I don't think, it has to be 15° exactly 😜

Haha, yes, that's seems to be their business model. OTOH, I am always amazed by these people's abilities to fix the buggers. It's like watchmaking to me, or witchcraft.

You're right! Sometimes I think, having the big 7 on my age counter means to slow down. But it shouldn't. There is so much still to see and explore.

Great explanation, thank you! I can guess, if a nut or bolt is more like a 10 or a 15mm, but not if it's 10 or 11, haha! Yes, it's an art and a science all at once.
