Dark Souls: should I pick up I or III?
For context, I never got into DS until I played Elder Scrolls, which I've been obsessed with

Thinking of people in terms of good and evil will only lead you to oversimplification and dehumanization of others. Your family is not the enemy. Your family is your family. And it sounds like they care about you.
Systemic issues are far more important than individual issues

Good ol "not all Trumpists, covid conspiracy theorists, and anarcho-capitalists are fascists, but all fascists are Trumpists, covid conspiracy theorists, and anarcho-capitalists."

Agreed. Private-owned AI competing against humans for limited jobs in a capital based market is a nightmare.
Public-owned AI producing and providing for all is not.
AI was trained on the work of millions and is inhuman in its productive capabilities. It has no business being private owned

There's controversy over whether VPN + TOR is a good combo. Some say it's an added layer of anonymity, others say it could be decreasing anonymity because your VPN could be logging your traffic. Some also say the two don't mesh well. But honestly the juries out so everyone should probably come to their own conclusion
Megathread backup from r/piracy: - [Rentry backup](https://rentry.co/megathread) - [History of r/piracy wiki](https://notabug.org/TheChumBucket/PiracySubreddit/) on Notabug Megathread backup from r/freemediaheckyeah: - [Rentry backup](https://rentry.co/FMHY) - [Notabug backup](https://notabug.org/nbatman/freemediaheckyeah/wiki/_pages)
r/piracy has a great megathread of resources that we could copy over or borrow from. I just hate to have to go there for such a comprehensive list of resources. And I'd hate it even more to see it all be turned to the wind if Reddit decides to crush it under their heal. Edit: Went ahead and linked to the r/piracy and r/freemediaheckyeah megathread backups [here](https://lemmy.ml/post/1153125?scrollToComments=true)

Also, how do I safely download from these sites?
I thought there was a mirror on lemmy for r/piracy's spectacular megathread but I don't see it. Rough guides from a semi-noob:
Direct download:
-
TOR with Ublock Origin add-on
-
After downloading your file, upload it to virustotal.com and scan it. If it passes you're probably pretty safe.
Torrent:
-
Find and copy your file magnet in TOR.
-
Turn on VPN.
-
Open qbittorrent with your connection bound to your VPN's network.
-
Paste your magnet link when it prompts you and download.
-
Once it's done downloading, upload it to virustotal to scan it.

I can't even find the community I'm looking for from lemmy.world . I search for !worldbuilding@lemmy.ml and it says no results
I think we'd all like to see this community come to life. And an important part of a successful community is a good group of well-intended mods. I've modded just a tiny bit on reddit and I'm pretty new here, and mostly active sporadically throughout weekdays. So, as this community continues to grow it would be nice to have some other mods to help out where they can and want. The workload is practically nonexistent rn, but with any luck this community will one day thrive. So, **comment, ping me, message me, what have you, if you're interested. Lmk any experience you may have** on here or reddit (if so, link to your reddit account if you don't mind), **or just lmk what makes you want to be a mod of this community**. That way we can find great mods for a great community! Thanks for reading! Keep exploring every impossibility :)

Lemmy will have to learn to hide the sausage-maker if they want laymen to enjoy their sausage. That is to say they'll have to make a way for the everyman to interact without the barrier to entry.
Though, no one says Lemmy has to become a AAA social media site
As the transition from reddit begins I'd really like to see this community come alive like r/worldbuilding. Is moderation here still active, or do we need a new community?
