Trump's memory problems seem to keep growing
  • FlashMobOfOne FlashMobOfOne 14h ago 10%

For most of this race it was between two candidates who clearly are in cognitive decline, and both sides insisted we all vote for their brain-damaged guy as a moral imperative, completely unironically.

Then Kamala came along and for the first two months of her campaign, she insulted our intelligence by insisting we be joyful, when tens of millions of Americans are working 2-3 jobs just to fund the bare minimum of essential living needs. (And the polls seem to reflect how displeased people are with that.)

You're absolutely right that I don't think much of my fellow citizens. What reasonable person could?

Too bad Kamala spent the first two months of her campaign repeating memes instead of advertising plans to benefit the working poor.

  • My parents never did any extravagant trips like to Disney world or Sea world. Knowing what I know now I'm kinda grateful for that.

It's been a long time, but I was in a dance troupe as a kid and we performed at Disney World in the late 90's. I'm not sure if they still do it, but when you traveled to perform there, they put your troupe name and the members' names in the park program for the day.

My mom and I took the tram back to the park at dusk every night we were there to get a milkshake and watch the fireworks. TBH, those were some pretty neat experiences.

DW was a neat place before it got enshittified.

What it shows is how little our ruling parties care about wage earners, really.

Harris spent two months repeating memes instead of coming up with plans to bring wage earners into the fold, and if she loses, that's why. You can meme about joy all day and that doesn't put food on people's tables.

I found this pretty shocking. Apparently Lebanon sent three drones, two of which were intercepted.

And the shocking thing for me isn't that a drone managed to get through, but that a head of state backed by the US came so close to real accountability for perpetrating genocide.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel’s government said a drone targeted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s house Saturday, with no casualties, as fighting with Lebanon-based Hezbollah and Gaza -based Hamas showed no pause after the killing of the Hamas mastermind of last year’s Oct. 7 attack. Israel’s military said dozens of projectiles were launched from Lebanon a day after Hezbollah announced a new phase in fighting. Netanyahu’s office said the drone targeted his house in the Mediterranean coastal town of Caesarea. Neither he nor his wife were there. It wasn’t clear if the house was hit.

Man, I love The Good Liars. They are great at improv and quite adept at disarming Trump supporters and getting them to say stupid things.

With that said, the hallmark of the Trump presidency to me was that the good things he did were generally for the wrong reasons, like when he redeployed the US military from Syria and snatched money that was budgeted for various military projects to build his stupid wall.

    That's a good point.

For my part it's a perception of an increase, but there are definitely things happening that haven't been happening historically. For instance, this week there were five local businesses hit overnight in the River Market area. That kind of brazen criminal activity is unusual.

I can confirm that the Betty Rae's Ice Cream shop has never been broken into twice in a six-month period, though, and that's what got me frustrated.

    On a macro level, yes.

On a micro level, no. There's been a lot more petty crime, especially targeting small businesses. The larger retailers can absorb those losses, the little local ice cream shop in my neighborhood that's been broken into twice can't.

Still, it's important that cops be held accountable for murder, but I think Parson's going to pardon the bastard once the election's settled. They know it will be unpopular enough here in Kansas City that they can't do it before, even if he's a lame duck.

Also odd that we're one of the few states that jailed a killer cop. KC is paying for it though. Cops here are determinedly lax on the job right now, and word on the street is they're unmotivated because that cop's still in prison.

A 25-year-old woman with type 1 diabetes started producing her own insulin less than three months after receiving a transplant of reprogrammed stem cells1. She is the first person with the disease to be treated using cells that were extracted from her own body. “I can eat sugar now,” said the woman, who lives in Tianjing, on a call with Nature. It has been more than a year since the transplant, and, she says, “I enjoy eating everything — especially hotpot.” The woman asked to remain anonymous to protect her privacy. James Shapiro, a transplant surgeon and researcher at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, says the results of the surgery are stunning. “They’ve completely reversed diabetes in the patient, who was requiring substantial amounts of insulin beforehand.”

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A sight previously thought to be science fiction is very real at a southeast Kansas City shopping center. Instead of a police officer, a security robot has been patrolling sidewalks and shoppers are taking notice. Since Marshall the robot has been on the job, shoppers say the experiences have completely changed when they come to these stores. The robot can spend 23 hours a day monitoring the parking lot from all angles which gives people a new sense of protection and ease they don’t always have when out. Marshall took over security at Brywood Centre in April. Before that, Karen White noticed a lot of trouble outside the shopping center. “Sometimes it’d be concerning for your car like someone could take it or something,” White said. Knowing now that Marshall is always watching, the risk of crime does not worry her or others as much. “It made it very better, like you can’t be in the parking lot without seeing the robot,” White continued. “So, I think it scared them off.”
