Zamperla leaked the information on Project High Point

Sounds like it'll be a good revamp, though I'm glad I was able to ride the original a few times before the accident.

  • Time to Move on From PS5?
  • GandalfDG GandalfDG 1y ago 100%

I would piggyback on the people saying to get a PC, and think about building a home theater PC. You can use steam big picture mode to make it act like a console, but you can also use it for other things. You can even use steam's streaming capabilities to stream to other devices on your network like your phone or laptop if you want to be elsewhere.

  • GandalfDG GandalfDG 1y ago 100%

My wife has struggled with disordered eating, and it's been a long journey for both of us. She is also tall and got to a really scary place. She's doing much better now, but it continues to be a process. Keep up the great work and don't give up!

Also going to throw in a recommendation for Expedition Theme Park. Similar content in different series organized by park

  • Anyone else remember those giant scale maps that used to be in shooters? e.g. bathroom, kitchen, office, backyard, that made you feel so tiny?

Did anyone else ever play Airfix Dogfighter? You got to fly model planes all through a house and break glass and stuff. Super fun times 😁

  • What is your favorite LIVE album?
  • GandalfDG GandalfDG 1y ago 100%

I really love A Show of Hands by Rush. It's one of my favorite of their eras, though I feel like the "synth era" isn't as universally loved by fans

  • whats a game that you got significantly far into, only to realize you were doing something wrong or missing a key feature/ability altogether?
  • GandalfDG GandalfDG 1y ago 100%

Yeah, it wasn't until my second time starting the game that I took in any of the combat tutorials

Interesting analysis, it does make you wonder why the support was shaped that way at all.

  • As the title says, I'm getting pretty overwhelmed by a growing list of tasks I have to do. Laundry is piling up, I still need to unpack my car from a roadtrip last weekend, and an issue I've been working at work has been dragging on for too long. What are your techniques for resetting and getting through tasks that have been sitting around for too long?

Up to 85 credits, having a great time this season!

really feels like BGW is coasting on the "most beautiful park" tagline meanwhile they didn't theme or landscape Pantheon like, at all...

  • I’ve fallen into a deep gaming rut lately. What helped “get you back into” gaming and rediscover the magic of video games?
  • GandalfDG GandalfDG 1y ago 100%

For me after some time away from PC gaming, getting a steam deck was one thing that got me back into it. The other thing though was definitely selecting relatively short games. I played a lot of open-ended games that I could never finish like rimworld or crusader kings, it was nice to get back into games with a beginning middle and end. And in the same vein it means I've been playing stuff that I was interested in playing back in the 2010s but didn't really have the time/money/hardware for

  • Whatever happened to federal student loan forgiveness?
  • GandalfDG GandalfDG 1y ago 100%

Do you think that a significant number of people who would benefit from some amount of student loan forgiveness are in this situation? Do you believe that it would be good to do nothing so that some undeserving people aren't helped as well?

  • Favorite kind of coaster?
  • GandalfDG GandalfDG 1y ago 100%

I really love hypercoasters from Intamin and B&M, and B&M inverts. Sustained floater is definitely my favorite type of ride force

    2
  • What's everyone anticipating most this coaster season?
  • GandalfDG GandalfDG 1y ago 100%

Finally getting on Pantheon was what I was most looking forward to this season. I think it's a better ride than Velocicoaster disregarding theming. Unfortunately the operations were pretty bad when I was there, either slow two-train ops, or agonizing one-train ops

    2
  • Are you able to physically relax your body when you go on rides?
  • GandalfDG GandalfDG 1y ago 100%

It depends on the ride. On something smooth and comfortable like a B&M hyper I can definitely relax. For example, Candymonium at Hersheypark is a great ride to practically ragdoll on. Also, putting hands up is a good start even if you're tensed up. When you realize on some level that holding on isn't doing anything but letting you tense your muscles unnecessarily you'll start to feel more freedom on rides. Also, as you become more familiar with ride forces, you can better predict how upcoming elements will feel and you can brace for them in a more relaxed way, rather than trying to stay totally rigid in your seat

Not a coaster, but on an S&S screamin' swing I notice that I tense up totally involuntarily. Something to do with the amount of airtime and the feeling of the restraint. It really depends on the ride.

If there were a progressive candidate in the general election I would've voted for them 🤷 Believe me I didn't vote for Biden with much hope for anything changing for the better in the country.

  • So far this summer I've gone to Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Hersheypark and Disney World, which has brought my count up to 85. New ones for this season were: - i305 - Twisted Timbers - Reptilian (formerly avalanche) - Grizzly - Anaconda - Pantheon - DarKoaster - Wildcat's Revenge - Tron Lightcycle Run - Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind - Space Mountain (Alpha track) For immersive rides, while I really loved Cosmic Rewind and Tron (though it was just OK during the day, the night ride makes it 10x better) neither beat out Hagrid's for me. For conventional coasters, I was glad that i305 lived up to the hype, the camelbacks on Twisted Timbers were nuts, and Wildcat's revenge was completely awesome in every row I tried. Pantheon was an excellent ride, but pretty shaky operations really made the experience unpleasant. With two trains it was constantly stacking or loading full trains from quick queue, and most of the time it was running a single train. DarKoaster was mid.

  • GandalfDG GandalfDG 1y ago 100%

I'm using it both for notes at work (software development) as well as a separate graph for my own thoughts, ideas, todos, pretty much everything. Using Syncthing to sync my graphs between devices works pretty well, though it's had a bit of a learning curve in getting it set up.

I find things like this annoying and literally no one I know seems to notice them at all. I went to see across the spider verse in "IMAX" with some friends and could literally see the pixels of the projector. Great movie, but if I'm going to see a movie in IMAX I shouldn't be having issues with the resolution.

I spun up an instance on my personal server to host a podcast that my wife and her friend started, and it's been working great! Has a few rough edges, but it does everything one needs to inexpensively get a podcast out onto the internet without relying on a non-free hosting platform. Feel free to check out my wife's podcast at https://podcast.tworooms.online as an example.
