It's funny to me that people have such a problem with YouTube Premium.
Just means you don’t see or agree with their point of view.
YouTube Premium is about as close as it gets to the platonic ideal of a video subscription service. It completely banishes any ads you'd get without paying
I don’t understand what you mean here (could be because English isn’t my native language). For YouTube premium, you still need to pay. So how does it banishes ads without paying?
Anyway, you still get in-video sponsors which doesn’t get automatically skipped by YouTube’s “premium”. A lot of people (included myself) find premium expensive for what it is. I, personally, don’t need the whole package for €15-20/monthly. It could’ve been like €5/monthly to remove ads.
Sure one could use advantage of currencies but ain’t worth it when there’s uBlock Origin + SponsorBlock for Firefox, SmartTube for TV, uYou+ for iOS and ReVanced for Android.
If showing ads is unacceptable, and paying to not see ads is unacceptable, then what's the alternative?
It is not that’s “unacceptable”, it is the price and ‘value’ you get out of it.
People have to make a living, and servers don't run on magic.
Google/ YouTube (whatever) as a company are immensely rich. Toning down the price or change their tactics won’t hurt them so much. But of course they won’t, I would not either because eventually there are people who will gladly pay the €15/monthly. So why change?

I genuinely tried to leave but lots of communities didn’t leave Reddit and therefore had to stick to Reddit. I did with RRSS-feed and avoided their app.
Recently figured out we can Sideload Apollo app with almost all functions available. So did that.
Thankfully never used twitter! I read valuation dropped from 44B to 9,4B recently.

Never heard of Frostpunk, how’s the game?
I just finished Alan Wake 2 and the 3 episodes of the DLCs. Alan Wake 2 is a literal masterpiece in my opinion, the gameplay was similar to its first game but refined, the story dark, mood, mysterious and weird. I also loved the references to the other games. Like Ahti. The ending of Alan Wake 2 made me wonder and sad (I won’t mention it to avoid spoilers). The 3 DLCs made me immensely hyped up though - they were weird and like a love-letters to their fan-base of all three games. Spoiler tagged, don't open if you have not played the DLCs (you have been warned); ::: spoiler spoiler In the second episode you play as Jesse Faden and try to find your brother, this is basically a teaser for its sequel which was confirmed by the developers. The ending twist of this episode! I can't wait for the sequel. The third episode its a love letter and possible teaser to Quantum Break. I genuinely hope, they do make a sequel of that one too. ::: I was not certain how much, I could write without spoilers therefore it might be a little underwhelming or not much. I assume they're planning a second DLC for Alan Wake and I will get that one as well. In the meantime, I will take a little break and then replay Quantum Break and Control.
I'm in need of a magical, cozy anime series that gives off an old adventure vibe with fun and comedy moments. Everything I play, watch, and read currently is so depressing, so I need something with happy moments. If it is necessary to put my anime-list on here, let me know. It is a Excel file though. I forgot how weird and pretty shit Reddit is, since I have been using Lemmy most of the time. Got iPhone issue, searched for it and got a Reddit thread on the iPhone subreddit. Great but couldn’t fix it. I made a comment something along the lines of “got the same issue, clueless what to do”. An hour later and got banned for it on the iPhone subreddit lol. They claim, I was “ban evasion”. I double checked my accounts and I have literally never been banned on the iPhone subreddit. So I’d have to say thanks to them to prove the fact that, I have made the right decision of leaving Reddit.

I currently play most games thru emulators but been wondering whether it is worth it to get the Switch V1 version for handheld. my plan would be putting the roms onto the Switch and then play handheld (is this possible?) Playing when traveling, a few hours in bed before sleeping or cozy up next to the heather in the evening seems nice. However is it still worth around €300 euro for it, may I have your opinion on the matter?
So I’m trying to get a bot from a channel to forward its messages to my private channel. But I keep getting this message and I have no idea where to change this I have checked both channel settings and the telegram setting. This is the message I keep getting: “Disable UserTransmission so bot can send files to users!” I tried to upload a picture but for some unknown reason, Lemmy won’t let me.
Just out of pure curiosity, is the Memmy app still in development? I haven’t used the app for a month or so due to “an unknown error has occurred!” But haven’t seen a single update from the app nor a single post about the app lately. It is quite sad to see that decent amount of semi-developed apps are stopping. Artemis is an example of this.
So I’m pretty new to Yuzu and Emulating the games. I managed to get FitGirl repacks games of emulation and they work without Prod-keys and Firmware. Now, I managed to get Prod-key and Firmware 17.0.0 but no idea what, I do with it and what I do after to get games. I tried googling here and there but couldn’t get an actual answer or landed on unknown sites which, I find hard to trust. Could someone explain, get me into the right direction or anything like that? EDIT: SOLVED. Apparently the only thing I just needed was the NSP-Games files and then load them into Yuzu.
I was searching for an anime with a similar vibe to Code Geass and DeathNote and came across “Monster”. It seemed good but the art/quality are quite dated. I often struggle with dated quality because, well, I’m just spoiled with the current quality of animes. Is this anime actual similar to the two I mentioned and worth the struggle?
I recently checked back on the PiratedGames subreddit after long while not being there. And I wonder what other people here think but in my opinion, the quality of the subreddit has gone downhill. Most posts from what I see are now ‘’meme’s’’, ‘‘I justify pirate because..’’ and ‘’This is my collection!’’. Pretty much just hurr-durr look and upvote me kind of content. Actual content to help with problems, discussions (besides, I justify it because) are not there. I know this is kind of an ironic because, this post isn’t necessarily a helpful thing either. So, I’m curious if anyone seen this short anime. I’m currently watching it, 3 episodes in and don’t know whether to proceed or to call it quits. I love the worldbuilding, visuals and the fact that she’s a traveler but that’s about it. Do you buy physical books you have already read? For example; I have read a book named “The Words We Keep” digitally. I loved it, it really resonated with me because it’s about something - I personally have and struggle with as well. Thinking to buy the book physically but feel like, I can’t justify it due to the fact that I’ve already read it. I don’t really re-read books either.
Might be a stupid question actually however how do I import Lemmy’s RSS into an RSS-App? I’m using “Feeed” RSS app on iOS. I downloaded the RSS-Feed link of for example [Books.ml](https://lemmy.ml/c/books) but when I try to import it into the app, it says “No data” I have added an image of what, I mean. Am I doing it wrong? EDIT: This might be the wrong community, I have realized. But not sure which community, I should go to otherwise.
