Don't even need that. My parents used to have a kid seat on the front and the back of the bike so they could take us both. When you're getting too big to fit on the seat, you learn how to ride a bike yourself.

That's an urban planning problem. My dad's detour to drop me off at daycare when I was little was a 10 minute bike ride. When I was old enough to go to school, there was no detour because it was on the way to his work. Shops are also on the way or at most a 5 minute detour.

I'm especially sensitive in my neck, so when it's long enough to reach, I feel and am annoyed by it constantly. Like 10 years ago when I was growing out my short hair too I also just put it in a bun, but I left it there for so long because I was so sick of it that I literally had dreads when I took it to it eventually. Had those for a while until they got too long. I also feel like it's a bit silly to have long hair if you're only ever gonna have it in a bun. Why not just cut it off then. Same end result but way easier. I guess technically long hair in a bun is better if you want the option to have it loose, but to me that's way more hassle than it's worth.

I guess it heavily depends on where you live. Where I live there are zero stray cats just wandering the streets. The shelter I got one of my cats from actually did have a ton of former strays, which really surprised me, but that shelter is smack dab in the middle of a pretty rural area and there you'll have some. But definitely not in the cities.

Interesting. I'm not American so we don't really have that over here I think.

Same here. It's simply not as active as Reddit, obviously. But I found that I was wasting way too much time on Reddit anyway. Infinity was still working for free this whole time, which was the 3pa I used for years, but I still deleted it about a week ago. My sub feed was way less active and the all page was even worse than usual with 80% just aita kind of text posts. I'm on lemmy maybe 30 minutes a day, but that's a good thing for me.

I tried out ubuntu about as long ago as you did, and for some reason I couldn't get the internet to work. But because this was before smartphones, I had to boot back into windows, look up a possible solution, write it down, boot back into ubuntu, try it, didn't work, rinse and repeat. After 2 hours I just gave up and went back to windows. It's probably way easier now, but I'm still hesitant to give it another try.

I've never had a car but am considering it for the first time in my life, at least temporarily. My upcoming internship is at a school in a relatively rural village, and it's technically under the 1.5 hours travel time my college promises, but only by 10 minutes. Compared to the travel time by car which is 35-45 minutes depending on the time of day. Even in a country as dense and non-car friendly as the Netherlands it still sucks ass to get anywhere more rural without a car.

I don't hate kids, but it would be a horrific nightmare for everyone involved if I had some of my own. Never wanted them, never will. I do adore my niece.

I wish I could let my hair grow out. I tried for 3 years because after I got medication that helps with overstimulation, I thought/hoped long hair wouldn't bother me as much. Boy was I wrong.

I did that for a good while when I was really sick of having my hair cut, and I thought at the time I could get away with a buzzcut, but looking back on the photos... I really can't. I'm stuck with barbers for now

I love having my hair buzzed super short but unfortunately even my autism isn't strong enough to not give a fuck about being a bald woman :(

Man, that's the dream right there. I'd pay double for a decent robot barber

It was a pretty cheap barber which was all I could afford then, but it also means they don't take quality as seriously as more expensive barbers. I've had a disconnected undercut for years and they were always messy as hell with the lines but I used to have long hair that I mostly wore down so it wasn't really that visible. Now that it's really short you can see everything and it just looks messy and ugly. It's such a shame because the 20 minutes in silence was really amazing.

Yeah, I totally get that it meets a certain need for a lot of neurotypicals, that's why so many barbers are like that. I'm happy for them it exists but damn it can be rough to find one who is more introvert/autistic friendly
Sorry y'all, I just need to vent a little. I was unhappy with my previous barber and was trying out a new one. It was close by, had good reviews, and the same prices for men and women. Great. But man, my previous barber might not be the most skilled but at least she was quick and knew how to shut the fuck up. This guy took an hour(!) to do my really simple super short cut and talked *the entire time.* He fixed what I wanted to have fixed fine, but he doesn't believe in clippers(?) so it's way longer than I wanted, and I'm just exhausted. Honestly, my entire day has been ruined by the sheer amount of energy that has been sucked out of my soul from having a stranger talk to me for an hour straight for something that could've been done in silence in 20 minutes.

Is she food obsessed the whole day or just in the morning? One of my cats was like that, the whole day, and it turned out she actually had worms (my fault, I didn't think it was necessary to deworm an indoor cat), and now that it's treated she is very chill with food.

Why doesn't you mom take that poor cat to the vet? Compulsive grooming is a symptom, not a thing onto itself. She probably would also be a lot sweeter if she wasn't constantly in pain or itchy or stressed or whatever is wrong with her.
