We will be seeing this more and more in Europe generally. Europeans seem to have tired of economic immigrants and the problems and expense they bring.

Nah, the downvotes are weird partisanship. The rest of the world knows that these parties sometimes cut deals on speakers.
https://time.com/6320202/house-democrats-refused-save-kevin-mccarthy/
On Tuesday, Democrats voted unanimously alongside Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida and seven other GOP members to remove McCarthy as Speaker. Despite talk over the weekend that some Democrats might cut a deal with McCarthy to save him, the Speaker ultimately refused to offer members of the opposition party any concessions, leaving Democrats united against him. In the narrowly divided House, only a handful of Republicans needed to join Democrats to create the majority needed to win the vote.

Analogy isn't working for me. I've turned it off and back on again. Still nothing. 😆

The partisanship in here, among what I assume are mostly adults, is monstrously depressing.

Majority rule made the Dems relevant. Since that's the entire structure of our democracy then maybe there's a bit more strategy to it than you're willing to observe.

It is a fact.
Really wish Lemmyverse liberals here weren't exactly as pedantic and defensive as they are on every other social media site.

This simply isn't true. The minority party, GOP or Dem have been known to support speakers of the opposite party when it suited their purposes.

Jesus Christ, am I on Reddit right now? The guy is spitting facts and getting lectured and downvoted. Are liberals really this sensitive now? It's mind-blowing to an older guy.

That may be true but he also would have been voted out by his own party if he had. Honestly, they turned on him as soon as he DID work with Democrats.

Feel badly for her. First she had to take the studio to court over Black Widow and now this.

Just seeing this. I've gone back and forth with SP. It occasionally became too shitposty for me but I maintain it's the only sane political sub on Reddit. Would love to see it recreated here.

Guy was very ahead of his time on multimedia like this. Unfortunately for music VR he did it all himself and it didn't look great. Maestro was better but still not great.

I'm working at a liquor store as a cashier right now. It isnt where I want to be in six months but it's been a joy overall. The amount of chitchat I get to engage in is voluminous and I learn a lot every day about people's lives.

Handkerchiefs are the bomb. I carry one everywhere I go (when I don't forget 🥲). Really feel like they could make a comeback with the right marketing.
I've been inspired to pirate and watch Picard Season 3 since they enjoyed it so much. It's been a pleasure to watch them suffer through the first two seasons only to fall in love with the third one...for the most part. Anyone else enjoying these review videos? Also, Picard season 3 is very enjoyable imo.

It's the main impediment, imo. That and lack of an easy to find list of servers to join.
But I love the feel and tone.
