At least this way we know we have to take vacation, so its all on the books and no surprises.
If they released on Friday, we wouldn't have booked time off, and come Monday morning, there would be a wave of "sick" principle engineers blind siding all critical systems.

I've had very... poor.... experiences when previously posting metabolic topics in other communities, so my strongest guideline for this community is civility and mutual respect.
I kick started the community with a lecture I just finished this afternoon.
!metabolic_health@lemm.ee A place to discuss metabolic health research, papers, lectures, diets, etc. I spend a good deal of time soaking up this area of research - Thought I'd just start publicly journaling my notes and maybe kick off a new community.

I posted early, so i get sorted to the bottom by new. I had too much text so many people won't read it. If I wanted lots of karma I'd have a one or two sentence pithy zinger.
I tried to be accurate and complete, yet I still got downvoted! haha, that's lemmy for you.

It's clickbait. The fact that the clickbait is demeaning is incidental. They're maximizing whatever sensational clickbait title they can get. At least their heart isn't intentionally evil, just incidentally evil.

I stand by what I said. If you examine who supports those organizations, they are getting a benefit.
The US Navy supports tor more than anybody else. Not to mention all of the government-run exit notes. Now you're the product here, is the product watching your data? Or is the product providing noise for their clandestine operations? Tor is a great thing, 100%, but it is being supported by people who get a benefit from it.
I'm sure you can find a counter example, but the point is it's about incentives. If the incentives aren't aligned you can't trust it. Not for mission critical objectives

Introducing a vertical circular bus - A giant O of belts and lifters fully connected allowing for input / output anywhere along the bus. Pros : - Modular, you can build anywhere on the vertical bus stack - Limits spaghetti by providing a clear and easy to access API for all players. - Very fast to reach all parts of the factory since everything is very concentrated into a cube of productivity. Cons : - Satisfactory netcode doesn't like SUPER dense areas, so it could become problematic for multiplayer. - There is no priority mergers yet in Satisfactory, so if you want to prioritize a input to the bus you downgrade the belts/lifters feeding INTO the priority input, that way the belt will back up and the priority input will provide the bulk of the material. I'm looking forward to the launch, I certainly hope there aren't any delays. I have some tentative friend groups who want to get started immediately when it's available. Does anybody else have a party planned for the launch?

Let's suppose we could dump enough "breathable" air (whatever that means for humans) into the solar system that it filled the spaces between planets. What would happen? A - I imagine it would then become possible to fly airplanes between planets, perhaps balloons? Would space travel become easier or harder? B - According to another lemmy post, we would start to hear sound waves from the sun (A constant jackhammer sound - delightful) C - Each each planet become the center of some mega cyclone (like the Jupiter storms, but bigger)? D - At some point the air above us wouldn't be pushing down onto the earth at sea level, could we survive the additional pressure?
I've decided to do my first Babylon 5 rewatch! Lets have a binge thread to talk about B5! I would love to find a 4k remaster of the series, there are some great demo videos on youtube, but on the streaming sites I can only find 720p. If you have any trouble choosing which streaming service to use just search for fmhy and they will have a curated list of options. TV shows were wild back then, 22 episodes per season, 45 minutes each; 1000 minutes per season!
Watch the film, don't read the plot synopsis! Scifi, future, humanity themes Excellent Film, well worth watching and thinking about. 7.5/10 on https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6499752/
Now that Borderlands has hit the "streaming" services in high quality, I've watched it. It's reasonable for a second screen show at 2x speed in the background. It might even get some popularity over time.
