I remember this from a high school science class. There was a girl in my class who was absolutely disgusted and mortified with the idea that grasshopper parts could be in bread. Maybe I'm wrong, but I reckon there's probably a difference between cooked prepackaged foods and fresh raw foods.
The idea of bug parts in food doesn't bother me much. Just a little protein. When I was a teenager during harvest, I'd climb on the trucks and stick a handful of wheat germ in my mouth when we were finished harvesting a field. I love the flavor and texture of wheat germ. Naturally, my favorite breakfast cereal is bran flakes.
Side note: if you do this, make sure they're golden brown, not pink. The pink ones are covered in poison.

The journey to the center is pretty intense. She loses her wings on the way in and dies after laying her eggs.
iirc, the figs sold commercially were selectively bred to self pollinate. I think the FDA or USDA would have a major problem with dead animals in fruit, even if they're supposed to be there naturally.

Nooooo nononono, he's not bony at all! Now he's over there being a croissant. ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.world%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2Feb55897c-4d65-4984-8cca-9f920e8d12dd.png)
You have to be *really* careful opening doors. He's bolted a few times. He's only ever made it to the end of the patio before he stops like the grass is made of lava. It makes it pretty easy to walk to him and catch him. Still, I don't want to risk him ever getting brave enough to actually go so I always shoo him away before I open the door. He loves to reach up at the things he wants. He realizes doors are the way outside so trims to all of our exterior doors are *covered* in scratch marks. This is how he learned to open the door between the kitchen and the garage. That door gets locked now. We just leave the key in the chamber on the other side. Smart little butthead.

Hell yeah! I've had mine since last summer. I had a 4 speed auto in high school and college, and I always told myself that if I could do it again, I'd get it with a stick so that's what I managed.
What gen Miata? I've been wanting to drive an NB for a long time, but I can only realistically afford to have one 20+ year old car at a time lol

I love my Prelude. I paid $2,700 for it. I could sink another $10k into it and I'd have a perfectly good Prelude worth $6,000.
One of these days when I can stand to be out 10 grand, I'll fix it up. For now, I'm just enjoying it as it is. It looks like butt, but it runs good.

I've seen too many videos of people launching Wiimotes because they weren't wearing the strap. The Wii was around right as CRT was on its way out so I wonder how many LCD and plasma panels died this way.

I hate to be the good time ruiner, but unlike -40, it's not on the nose.
Still, really cool that it's as close a conversion as it is.

This was more of a one-off. My wife wanted the projector for other projects, but she was testing it out here. We usually throw these vids up on the TV, which is just out of reach for the both of them. But the TV is only 65". The projection was probably close to 12' diagonally.
Anyway, to answer your question directly, none.

Still rocking my Nintendo Wii! I mostly play GameCube games on it, but I do have Brawl, Mario Kart, Skyward Sword, and Galaxy 1 & 2. For GameCube, I have Sunshine, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, NFS Underground 1 & 2, Double Dash, Thousand Year Door, Melee, Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing, and Burnout.
It's also got Homebrew so I play SNES on it too. Been running Earthbound lately. I loved Undertale, but all this time, I've never played Earthbound, despite knowing about it for the last 20 years. I even snagged NES Monopoly, which is the only way I could get my wife to play Monopoly with me lol
Anyway, I needed batteries for my keyboard and it takes some 8 hours to charge them (good old nickel batteries, hey?) so I robbed the batteries out of my Wiimote. I need to put them back already.

I packed all my shit this morning. Coffee beans, grinder, mug, lunch, silverware, laptops, earphones, I was on it. I got to work, unpacked my stuff, and that's when it hit me:
I have coffee. I do not have a K cup to put my coffee in. Work doesn't stock coffee for the Keurig. So I have my coffee, but I have no way to make it.
I went downstairs to use the vending machine. I'm okay paying $3.75 for a NOS. Jammed my card in, pressed the button, and waited....and waited...and waited........card declined. The card reader then said cashless was out of order. I'm broke, but I'm not that broke.
Whatever. I just took the elevator down and hit up a local coffee shop a short walk away. $6 for a 12 ounce latte before tip. Yay, I guess? The coffee was damn good and I'm finally awake so I suppose it was worth it.
Mondays are my only day to come into the office. I work from home the rest of the week. They're not usually this chaotic, but man, this morning has been a fucking train wreck.

Lmao I was the bassist in our jam sessions, but I also play trumpet so that did spice things up a bit.

In fairness, I had a college buddy who learned to play real drums by playing a lot of Rock Band. He was no Joey Jordison, but he wasn't half bad.

We had an 84 Celica GT hatch when I was a little boy. I'd been told it had something like 386,000 miles when it was parked in like 2003 and it still ran. It just had a bunch of other issues. Good old R engines. They'll outlive the death of the sun with basic maintenance.
Thorin turned 11 years old in June. He's definitely less playful than he once was, but he's as lovely as he's always been. He certainly sleeps a lot. ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.world%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F06260ca9-f586-409d-a247-3cd336f7da4c.png)
We social distance, usually wear masks in public, and stay up to date on our vaccinations. But all it took was one lady with a mean cough on a two hour flight a week ago to ruin that...or so we *think.* The timing really sucks. I had plans for my weekend.
I see the Westin Seattle, I photograph the Westin Seattle. And in case you don't know: ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fr570ywqkddm01.jpg) Give it a listen if you like indie rock.
At least, I thought it was that one when I shot the picture
I've wanted to visit Seattle for *years.* But up until recently, we've always been suuuuuper broke. Finally, a decade into our careers, we're both in our early thirties. Considering kids, not planning for it, not rushing it. We didn't get to travel in our twenties, but in the last few years, our combined incomes have beaten inflation by a pretty good margin. My wife because she's unwilling to settle and looks for a new job as soon as she feels undervalued. Me because my workplace has been investing in its current staff and doling out regular raises. I've been telling her for years I want to visit Seattle. So for Christmas, she surprised me with Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins tickets in Seattle. Then she arranged accommodations with this awesome view of the Puget Sound pictured above, a rental car, and lots of things to do. On her own. She just wanted me to pick out a few places I might want to eat. She did like 99% of the work of planning a vacation. All of this following last year when, for my birthday, I got to buy a car I've been wanting (a manual '97 Honda Prelude) and a new GPU to replace my R9 290. All of that, and she's the one that chased *me.* I wasn't even in the dating pool. She approached *me.* Said *I* was cute. Asked *me* to help her move into her new apartment eight years ago. Now I'm in fucking Seattle because this woman loves me so much she plans out entire vacations and concerts for me. I just sat on the balcony with a cup of coffee before she woke up and cried. She is so good to me.
If only I could! Someone turned on the PlayStation 2 graphics. But here's the view my wife and I were greeted with last night. ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.world%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F23e2608c-8e20-4f5a-9324-2cfc1da9c39a.png) Foggy, cold, and rainy with a hot cup of coffee is legitimately how I could start every day. Dreary weather is my heaven. Anyway, we're gonna see what that Ublic Market Center is about before we go home.
This thread has convinced me to play Outer Wilds. My picks are: - Game: Portal 2. - Book: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. - TV show: Bojack Horseman. - Movie: The Shawshank Redemption.

A year of daily use ain't bad. Still, it came as a shock when, last Wednesday, I grabbed the handle, and the door didn't come open. I'm a big dude (tall *and* fat), and there wasn't room on the other wall to climb in through the passenger side. Somehow, I passed the acrobatics check it took to climb through the trunk and into the front seat. And I didn't hurt my back at 32 years old. Truly a feat to behold. I've already bought a handle, but it won't be in til Thursday. I could run around with it like this for a week, but I'm not gonna. Which means I'll be driving my wife's cargo ship for a few days.
For a few minutes anyway. Then it was back to his regularly scheduled chaos.
