Why aren't there more inverted wingers?

The success of the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Salah, Robben, etc., makes me wonder why they aren't used more at top clubs. They're versatile, create and score a lot, and subvert the opponent's defensive tactics. So why aren't they more popular? Are they hard to find or train?

I trained with a NCAA D1 team, and they utilized inverted wingers, so did a lot of the teams in the conference. So I'm assuming coaches see a lot of value.

What are your thoughts?
