That doesn't account for the frustration and confusion, the time wasted troubleshooting, the loss of property and time spent replacing it, the consumer trust violations, and the destruction of private property. They should face criminal charges for destruction of private property. By "they" I mean the executives who created and mandated this idea. Then they should be required to pay pain and suffering to each affected user at a rate of $100 per hour, with 5-10 hours assumed, and then have to replace the controllers they broke. Not give money to replace them, they should be required to immediately ship a new controller of the same type that they broke. Anything else is just lip-service, and a nice check for some random law firm.

Oh, that's a good way to get them to ring the bell. I tried making them ring the bell other ways, but they never do. Uber Eats has a feature where they need to get a code from you to prove they handed you the food. I had several drivers leave the food at the door and then text me, asking me for the code. Fuck off

I know a guy who has always taken 10x more substances than anyone else, and seems to still crave more. I watched him eat an entire handful of Percocet once, and then work all day like it was nothing. Half of one of the pills he took knocked me on my ass. I puked, then passed out, and slept for six hours. He was eating like 8 of them at a time, several times per day. He does the same thing with alcohol, and any other drugs he can get his hands on.

I appreciated it when it came out. I loved the plausibility of such a future, and the condemnation of it by the movie. I recommended it to everyone who would listen.

Nationwide. They're not plummeting or anything, but they've been steadily decreasing.

Edit: looks like they started going back up again a couple months ago. You can move the sliders to narrow down the chart.

  • We just got ambushed in a courtyard by about 15 enemies standing on a walkway above us, with no immediately obvious way for us to get up there. We were sitting ducks. So Shadowheart cast blade barrier across the entire walkway. In addition to doing a lot of damage every turn, it imposes difficult terrain. All of the enemies stopped firing on us and tried to run to the end of the walkway. Most of them died on the way, but a few seemed to realize it was futile and turned around to run back and attack us, they died on the way back. A single concentration spell turned a dire situation into a complete bloodbath for our enemies. Shadowheart doesn't shine very often, but when she does, she shines like a diamond.

Spoilers for the end of act 3 below. Idk what happened. I've only ever helped her. We just came from the astral plane and are ready to fight the brain. She pledged her sword and I gave a speech saying everyone is the hero of Baldur's Gate or some such, and then it cut to her telling me off and telling me if I die against the absolute it's better than I deserve and she left. WTF? Does anyone know why that happened? Edit: mystery solved. More spoilers below. If you kill Minsc instead of saving him, and then don't talk to Jahiera before the battle, she finds out about it after your speech, is hella pissed, tells you off, and leaves. She already pledged her harpers though, so you still get to use them.

I just finished saving Duke Ravenguard and the first thing he did was complain about his son. Dude is kind of an ass. Is it too late to put him back in the prison? I kinda wish I hadn't saved him.

Most jobs will give you a performance review and a raise every year to account for inflation and any increased duties you've taken on. We increase minimum wage by massive amounts after far too many years which causes all sorts of economic concerns, business complaints, and just a bunch of arguments everywhere. Shouldn't they just increase minimum wage 3.5% or whatever, every single year?

The guardian revealed as The Emperor sounds like James Earl Jones! I had to look up the cast because I could swear it was him. But it's not! The character is voiced by [Scott Joseph](https://m.imdb.com/name/nm1517710/?ref_=m_ttfcd_cl25), who I've never heard of before. Did they use synthesizers to make his voice sound like that? His look doesn't match that voice at all.

There was a conversation with Withers where he shares a bunch of back-story about some of the big bads. He's speaking pretty plainly, but there was still a dialogue option that said "Stop speaking in riddles and speak plainly. Can't you give me more information?". I felt like I had already obtained what I needed from him, but clicked that option just to be sure I didn't miss something. The game zoomed in on his face and he slowly and firmly stated "NO". I cracked up in real life because it felt like the "speak plainly" option was there entirely to toy with the players, which is pretty funny.

I almost caused a TPK in a big fight right now by dropping ice storm on top of my team. Everyone still took massive damage, and it killed Shadowheart's divine guardian which she had just casted. Read your spells carefully before assuming it's safe to cast them on top of your party!

Idk if this is the right community for this conversation, but it's been on my mind and I want to share it with someone. In the 00's every new thing we heard about the internet was exciting. There were new protocols, new ways to communicate, new ways to share files, new ways to find each other. Every time we heard anything new about the internet, it was always progress. That lasted into the early teens and then things started changing. Things started stagnating. Now we're well into the phase where every new piece of news we hear is negative. New legislations, new privacy intrusions, new restrictions, new technologies to lock content away and keep us from sharing, or seeing the content we were looking for. New ways to force ads. At one point the Internet was my most favorite thing in the world. Now I don't know if I even like it anymore. I certainly don't look forward to hearing news about it. It's sad, man. We've lost a lot. The mega corps took the internet from us, changed it from a million small sites that people created because they had big ideas, or were passionate about small ones, and turned it into a few enormous sites with no new ideas, no passion, just an insatiable desire for money. We're at the end of an era, and unlike the last 20 years of progress, I don't think most of us will like what the next era brings.

Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Pomeranian or Chihuahua?

Is it possible to have a Ridgeback with another small dog in the house? My wife and I might be moving to a rural area and I'd really like to get a Ridgeback. But my wife really wants a Pom or a Chihuahua and I've read that Ridgebacks have such a strong prey drive that they'll chase and kill pretty much any small animal. Can Ridgebacks be friends with small dogs, or will it always treat the tiny floof like a chew toy?

Facebook is totally worthless now that they force content on you and fill 99% of your feed with it. But I still go there sometimes to view "memories" from earlier times when the site was a vibrant space, full of discussions with friends and family. Today I decided to browse the feed a little bit, hoping to see some updates from friends. Of course that is impossible now, and instead my feed is full of pictures of celebrities I don't care about from 20 years ago, MMA crap, and pictures of Miley Cyrus. But one of those pictures was kind of interesting and I clicked it to see if there's any discussion on these posts like there is here or on Reddit. Nope! There was thousands of comments all saying the exact same thing. Everyone was commenting "legend!" or "absolute legend!". What drives people to be the 4432nd person to reply with the same word as everyone else? I checked another random post and it was more of the same type of comments. I just flat-out don't get that platform anymore. It used to be really useful for keeping in touch with people, and sometimes even really enjoyable. Now it's pure garbage. I don't understand why they have made the changes they've made and more importantly, I don't understand why people comment the same things over and over.

I'm not sure if any Sync team members read the posts on this community, but I figured I'd let you know that it's a big enough issue to me that I'm going to stop using the app until it's implemented. This is an otherwise good app, but combined scores misrepresent the overall sentiment of a post or comment and I think it has an overall negative impact on how people interact. Cheers.

Have any of you guys read this book? I just finished it two nights ago and I've decided that I really enjoyed it. I'd never even heard of the book or author before. But as I finished a book on my Kindle it popped up as a recommendation and I decided to do something I've never done before, actually try one of the books. I downloaded the demo and immediately purchased the book when I finished the demo. I am pretty much finished with all of the highly recommended books for both sci-fi and fantasy, so it was a pleasant surprise to find something else that isn't on any lists. I found the writing to be superb, and the story & pacing engaging. The side stories for character development were always relevant to future developments in the story. I wasn't entirely sold on the magic explanation, but I was still able to enjoy the book. It is part of a series, but this one wraps up neatly, and can stand on its own as a single book. I'm curious what other readers think of the book.

I value seeing the downvotes and upvotes separately on posts and comments. Seeing a combined score doesn't give an accurate picture of a submission. Lemmy s decision to separate these was a good one in my opinion. But Sync has combined them together again, like Reddit, which I dislike. I've checked all of the settings, but I don't see an option to separate them back out again. Does anyone know if this is possible in Sync for Lemmy?

Which app can I add words to block? Meaning if I add a word, then any post with that word in the title is blocked? Bonus points if I can block entire instances. I'm using Jerboa, but it doesn't seem to have either of those features.
