Like if the main engineer creates lots of really useful hooks etc. is it stealing if you use them outside of work? I’m talking about using the idea and not necessarily the entire code.

Hey, so I have a Ryzen 7 5800x with an 240mm AIO this one “ID-COOLING FROSTFLOW X 240 SNOW CPU” Now I’ve returned a block cooler because I was worried about the temps being too high. So I got this AIO and again the temps were high so I convinced myself I hadn’t seated it correctly. Taken it off and reseated but still runs hotter than I want or would have thought. Disclaimer I over think and this may be one of those times. So on boot it can get as high as 85 but mainly between 70-80. Then sat at idle it’ll be 30-40 then random spikes up to 80. Opening Visual Studio Professional and ramps up again but settles around 50 when coding. Minecraft on 12 chunks render with optifine, hits 85 on load the. Hangs around 60 whilst playing. Same for Factorio. But not tested any other games. Happy to make some recordings if that would help. Thanks

Then you should know that you can set up some automation that will unlock and lock and the screen orientation when opening or closing certain apps.

A few weeks ago I backed up into a parked car at a new job. I’m a new driver and wanted to do the right thing, even though the damage was minor, so I left my details. I get a text about it and we agree to go without insurance and I’ll pay for the damage. They get a quote from a garage and give me a copy. I’m just not sure she is getting the work done, but don’t know if she could then just make an insurance claim anyway. The invoice for the garage has the address and phone number, but the landline doesn’t work, I can’t find the garage on Google (I can find everything online). I texted the mobile on the invoice to see about making payment with CC rather than bank transfer but they’re not set up for that they said. So my question is, does it matter if she isn’t getting the work done and pockets the money as I have admitted to her in text liability after all so if I question the legitimacy of the invoice she could just decide to go get a real one and have the work done. Or if it’s fake is that fraud on her part and I don’t need to do anything. Bare in mind this is close to work too so don’t want drama but also do want to keep the £150.

Ill got first. I felt a bit nauseous coming back from work one day last week so I went straight to bed without eating. The next morning I was quite hungry and once I had driven to work I went to a Tesco Superstore with a hankering for a banana. Cue stupidity. I went to the adjoining Costa to use the bathroom and quickly scanned for bananas, which they didn’t have so I bought an overpriced toastie instead. A few days later I’m sat mind wandering and I think I was in Tesco with thousands of bananas but I just checked Costa. Sigh

So he wants to delete an old account due to vetting for a new job and a requirement for some reason. I don’t use these services and after this ordeal I’m even happier. This is has been the process so far, I don’t normally get stressed but I’m not doing well here: He needed access to an old iCloud account and that in itself was a long process but pretty smooth. He needed that account as Instagram was set up for that email. So I go to Instagram for him and click forgotten password and receive and email with two links, one for signing in via the app (no thanks) and the other is a reset password link with a token. So I click that, update the password which i get a 200 for. So I go to login and it takes me to a support page saying if you’ve not got the correct email or phone then to login and update them. If you can’t login then you should use the app to update them. I’m confused as the account has to exist to receive the links (tested by trying to reset with an email I know isn’t signed up and it says no user found) so if they can send a token and let me reset then why is it redirecting to the support page when signing in with that new password. 🤬

Every other post is about that site. It’s like getting a new girlfriend but constantly talking about your ex.

As the title says I’m curious if my peers love or loathe driving? I’ve been able to drive for a few years but never really needed to until I got a job which is 45 miles away. I absolutely love it and I can’t explain why. It’s quite cathartic, there lots of stimulation and it’s fun to watch all the other cars. I get to drive through lots of poor traffic jams then on to country roads with lots of cows to shout good morning to. My friends said I’d get bored of it eventually, spoiler: they’re never right, yet I’ve been doing 500 miles a week for a few months and it’s still so much fun. I don’t care about the weather or the traffic I just like being in the car.

Today I feel dumb. Less than two months into my first Software Developer role and I am starting to get to grips with the codebase, but everyday I feel like I’m just making poor choices

I have to say that since starting I’ve had a lot less support than I was expecting and I’ll be given something to do but very sparse direction. I’ll go away and do my best and usually be told that based on the little guidance I have done good but maybe we could do it this way or that way, which is great as that’s how we learn right? Also, preface saying that I’m working on a Typescript React app alone as the others have other projects. So queue today. I’ve got a todo list of questions about my implementation and things I could do better, which they like my diligence of keeping track. Well I was working on a component and like an idiot I hard coded a lot of the data that is subject to change if say they add a new let’s say PetType. So the SE comes over, tears my code to shreds and like a wizard makes it work even better with only dynamic use of data. I don’t mind the tearing my code to shreds as again it’s a learning experience but my self esteem has dropped off a cliff.
