As funny as this is, it's worth mentioning that it seems like Hans Reiser has really come around to understanding the crime he committed and is genuinely making an effort to turn himself around.
https://ftp.mfek.org/Reiser/Letters/№2%2520Hans→Fred/reiser_response.html
I was asked by a kind Fredrick Brennan for my comments that I might offer on the discussion of removing ReiserFS V3 from the kernel. I don’t post directly because I am in prison for killing my wife Nina in 2006.
I am very sorry for my crime–a proper apology would be off topic for this forum, but available to any who ask.
There's too much to quote here, and it's too spread out, but I think that while we make dark humor jokes (and I am certainly not saying dark humor is inherently bad) we should also appreciate the progress he has made.

This is so Carl Sagan.
And so we got to talking. But not, as it turned out, about science. He wanted to talk about frozen extraterrestrials languishing in an Air Force base near San Antonio, “channeling” (a way to hear what’s on the minds of dead people—not much, it turns out), crystals, the prophecies of Nostradamus, astrology, the shroud of Turin … He introduced each portentous subject with buoyant enthusiasm. Each time I had to disappoint him: “The evidence is crummy,” I kept saying. “There’s a much simpler explanation.”
...
And yet there’s so much in real science that’s equally exciting, more mysterious, a greater intellectual challenge—as well as being a lot closer to the truth. Did he know about the molecular building blocks of life sitting out there in the cold, tenuous gas between the stars? Had he heard of the footprints of our ancestors found in 4-million-year-old volcanic ash? What about the raising of the Himalayas when India went crashing into Asia? Or how viruses, built like hypodermic syringes, slip their DNA past the host organism’s defenses and subvert the reproductive machinery of cells; or the radio search for extraterrestrial intelligence; or the newly discovered ancient civilization of Ebla that advertised the virtues of Ebla beer? No, he hadn’t heard. Nor did he know, even vaguely, about quantum indeterminacy, and he recognized DNA only as three frequently linked capital letters.

Seriously! What is smart about these things? It's smart not to buy this bullshit. It's 1984 doublespeak just like the "open" in "OpenAI".

The phrase "these days" makes it sound like there's more to it than this thread. Obviously after this post nobody would want to buy LG, but it sounds like there are other reasons.

Why? What made you go from favorite monitors to "eat shit"?

It says "Smart Monitor" right there in the pic.

“The NRA is committed to ensuring Donald Trump wins in November and returns to the White House,”
That in itself is a really good explanation of why so many people in my area support Trump.

The site design could be better though. Human brains don't understand how insanely large those numbers are without a visualization.

"No meetings before 2pm (when the eastern hemisphere people are going to sleep)" that'll go over well.

Sure, but there's no verification when calling a cab so you can use an alias if you want.

Under federal law, the military is only allowed to shoot down drones over military bases if they pose a direct threat.
That is really remarkable. Civilians talk about shooting drones flying over their property all the time, but learning that even the military isn't free to do so is a bit shocking.

I picked up some stranded skaters in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night because they flashed SOS with their headlights after I drove past them. They had been there for like 8 hours. I'm sure they would've rather had a flashlight to do the work for them.
But I agree that there should be another UI for getting to the emergency flashing. Like hold for 5 seconds or something unlikely to be used during normal operation.
I have a flashlight that has multiple flashy settings, but they are disabled after like 5 or 10 seconds of idle power on time. So the first click turns it on, and if you wait a while, the next click turns it off.

Let me guess. You bought those at Borders? The one next to Starbucks and Chipotle? That was a great bookstore.

I definitely agree. I moved to outer Detroit a few years ago and was surprised with how nice everybody is.

One types of content I'd really like to see here is guidance from experienced pilots on how to get started. There is a lot of conflicting information and deferral to non-cited authorities online, and even those authorities sometimes have ambiguous and conflicting information. I'd love to see posts like "I am a part 107 certified pilot in X jurisdiction and here are my top 10 do's and don'ts, and my preflight checklist." One particularly confusing aspect I've encountered is all the differences on drones 250g and above. It seems to me like so much FAA guidance is written with complete disregard for drones below 250g, so much so that I'm not sure if I have to be licensed, if I have to register my drone, if I need to label it, if I'm allowed to fly in various circumstance and times, all because they appear to write a lot of their documentation as if all drones weigh more than 250g. As a result of this ambiguity and confusion I'm considering getting part 107 certified just to cover my bases, but even then, I wouldn't feel confident that I understood the laws and regulations.
